Searching For LinkedIn Referrals (2nd tier)
I recently received the following question from a subscriber;
Question: I met a guy yesterday whilst networking and he mentioned a company I’ve been trying to get in with that he works with. As it was our first meeting it wasn’t appropriate to push for who he deals with so I thought I’d find another way in. We have connected and he has all of his connections open. Great! I thought. I’ll be able to see who it was but he has so many connections and it will take an age to search – is there an easier way?
1. Type the name of your connection in the search bar (see below) but DO NOT select them from the quick result list, instead click on the blue search button
2. Your connection should be top of the resulting search result. Now click on the green 500+ (or less) to reveal their connections.
3. Now use the filters in the left hand panel to focus in on who you wish to find. In this case you would type the name of the company in the box show below.
4. Now you can browse through until you find your contact.
If the list is long (ie they are connected to hundreds of people at this company) simply use other filters to narrow the result such as location or seniority level (premium only)
So there you have it, it’s pretty easy when you know how but this technique does rely on your connection having their connections open/visible.
